CHALLENGE

Ultrasonic gauges failed in solvent vapour, forcing manual dips on 18 storage tanks.

SOLUTION

Non-contact 80 GHz radar replaced the ultrasonic units, and independent fork switches were added as high-level alarms with proof-test capability.

RESULT

Manual dips eliminated and overfill alarms proof-tested without entering the tanks. (Illustrative result.)
